Each rustic overlay panel is cut from a sheet of solid, 24 gauge steel and then run through our proprietary, acid-free conditioning process to give it the rich and variegated look of naturally oxidized iron. Sealed with durable acrylic, our rustic overlays do not stain clothing or floors, and their color does not rub off. The finish is in the metal itself and is virtually maintenance-free, requiring only a quick re-application of sealer every 2 to 4 years
